When he does arrive, Lito and Fay...。故事围绕一对年近五十的姐弟展开——爱丽丝是演员，路易斯是教师和诗人。他们不再互相交谈，二十多年来一直在躲避对方，但父母的去世将迫使他们走上歧途。。昭和15年，河本明子（芳根京子饰）与父亲源吉、母亲静子以及两个弟弟在广岛县三滝町幸福地生活着。明子的乐趣就是演奏自己最热爱的钢琴。直到某一天，一直支持她追逐梦想的教师竹内（町田启太饰）收到了征兵通知书…。随着战况不断恶化，明子的生活与音乐渐行渐远。“我想学习”、“我想再次弹钢琴”，她的这些愿望被强制的义务劳动无情打破。昭和20年8月6日清晨，明子同样不顾父亲的反对，为了工作前往市中心。时隔75年，受损的钢琴重睹天日，奏出明子的思念。。
