1937年，中日全面抗战爆发前，香港表面仍是一片娱乐升平，夜夜笙歌，歌坛茶楼不断启业，听曲艺的知音人蜂拥云集，歌精舞劲的小曲歌后聂小琼，最多知音捧场。热血青年林旭，心怀家国，和巧怡，志文等数个同学创办中国新一代杂志社，矢志抗日，一次，他在派发抗日传单时巧遇小琼，初时误会她傲慢，及后当知到她是失明人士，便欲以她为对象写励志文章，以激励年青一辈，小琼却不肯接受访问。林旭家境中上，其父不断安排他结识高官，其母则安排他和闺秀相亲，令林旭不胜其烦 …… 林旭为救小琼受伤，小琼终接受访问。原来小琼父亲聂忠放弃当文武生转而从商，在广州开设绸缎庄，就在开张当日，小琼和表兄尚志尚文，及下人汉妈的儿子苏汉去城隍庙玩，却不慎打翻香炉，小琼因炉灰入眼兼错误用药，令角膜受损而失明…… 苏汉自小已对小琼爱慕，但碍于主仆有别，从不敢表明心迹。兰姨知道后鼓励苏汉，要他发奋闯出事业。...。The Palm Desert band Eagles of Death Metal was performing at the Bataclan theater in Paris in November 2015 when terrorists opened fire, killing 89 people.
